ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — In less than one month, we will be celebrating the Fourth of July!

We’ll soon be seeing fireworks displays, parades, and many festivals across the Greater Rochester Area.

Below is a list of Independence Day events happening in the Monroe County area:

Friday, June 28

  • The Town of Chili’s annual Chil-E Fest is returning for 2024, hosted by the Chili Senior Center. More details are expected to come about the event, but organizers say it will be held on June 28 and June 29.
  • The Town of Penfield’s Independence Day Celebration will feature its annual parade, music concert, and fireworks display. The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. from Penfield High School to the Penfield Community Center. The celebration continues at Harris Whalen Park from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., ending with a fireworks display.

Thursday, July 4

  • Irondequoit has many plans for its Fourth of July celebration. The celebrations kick off at 8 a.m. with both a two-mile race and a 10k race. The town’s parade will start at 11 a.m. from Irondequoit High School to the Town Hall. The festival will be held both on July 3 and 4, ending with a fireworks display.
  • The Town of Brighton’s July 4 5k kicks off at 8 a.m. at Brighton High School. The race starts on Winton Avenue before ending at the school’s bus loop. Registration is available through Yellowjacket Racing.
  • Another race happening this morning is the annual Fleet Feet Firecracker Four Mile. The oldest 4-mile race in the Rochester area will be held at 8 a.m. starting at the corner of Whitney and O’Connor. Registration is available on Yellowjacket Racing’s website.
  • The City of Canandaigua’s annual Fourth of July Parade will kick off at 10 a.m. The parade begins at the Ontario County Parking Lot. The route goes through Ontario Street, onto South Main Street, before ending on Lakeshore Drive. Those who want to take part in the parade can sign up here.
  • The Genesee Country Village & Museum will host its annual celebration starting at 10 a.m. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served, patriotic music will be performed at the bandstand, and guests will get the opportunity to learn how people in the 19th century celebrated Independence Day.
  • Fairport’s Fourth of July parade will kick off at 10 a.m. Among the other celebrations include the traditional Firecracker 4-Mile and the party in the park.
  • Lincoln Hill Farm in Canandaigua announced “Light Up the Fourth at the Farm!” The festival will serve food and drinks. Live music will be provided, guests will be able to meet the farm’s goats, and fireworks will be launched. The festival opens at 1 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • The Town of Henrietta will feature live music performances ahead of its annual fireworks event. The festivities start at 4 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, with performances by 5 Second Rule and Brass Taxi. Fireworks launch at 9:45 p.m.
  • The Rochester Red Wings home game against the Buffalo Bisons will start at 6:45 p.m. and the gates open at 5:30 p.m. The players will wear special jerseys for the occasion and fireworks will be launched at the end of the night.
  • The City of Rochester’s Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza is back for 2024! The fireworks will start at 10 p.m. The best viewing areas are at the Broad Street Bridge and the Court Street Bridge, which will both be closed to traffic.
  • The Town of Greece announced their Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration. The event begins with the Freedom Runs and the Super Hero Sprint. After that, there will be food trucks, activities, and a performance from Jefferson Starship. The festivities start at 6:30 p.m. and will end at 9:45 p.m. with fireworks.
  • Overnight, Photo City Music Hall will host a Fourth of July rave. The rave will start at 7 p.m. and will stretch into the next morning at 2 a.m. Tickets for the event can be found on their website.

Sunday, July 7

  • On the weekend after the Fourth of July, Godfrey’s Pond will be hosting its annual Fourth of July cookout. Guests can expect to be served hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and drinks. The cookout can be found near the Snack Shack and will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
